Voice Studio

In the vocal studio, students will learn correct posture, breathing, and vocal placement, so that whether the goal is to improve your singing voice, sing in a musical, on stage at church, improve as a singer-songwriter, or be ready for a college audition, you will be prepared for a lifetime of healthy singing. After you have decided on your preferred genre, whether that be musical theater, classical, pop, or jazz, i we will work through music at a rate of several songs a month (or more, depending on how much you practice!) The focus of the lessons will depend on the student's goals, whether that be preparing for performances (such as singing at church, weddings, etc), competitions, or preparing for theater show auditions or college auditions. Regardless of the type of music you want to study, lessons will have a strong foundation in healthy singing technique. Students will also have the opportunity to perform in recitals.

Piano Studio

Beginner Piano: Beginner piano students will first learn the ins and outs of the piano including correct posture and technique. Beginners will work through several method books, learning music theory, sight-reading, and memorization. Adult beginners will have the option of working through adult method books or jumping straight into playing chords and songs or musical works. Students will have the opportunity to perform in recitals.

Intermediate and Advanced: Intermediate piano students (defined as students who have completed the method books) and advanced students will spend their time working on longer pieces of music. Classical piano students will work on literature by composers such as Chopin, Debussy, Schubert, Beethoven, Mozart, Bartok, and more. Jazz piano students will work through classic jazz standards out of the Real Book. As an intermediate or advanced student, the focus of the lessons will depend on the students’ goals, whether that be composition, performance, competition, accompaniment, or preparing for college auditions. Students will have the opportunity to perform in recitals.

Guitar Studio

Students in the guitar studio will learn strumming, finger picking, and other techniques so that you will be able to play anything from Ed Sheeran, the Beatles, to Nirvana. Students can learn to read music using guitar tablature or standard music notation. Students will have the opportunity to perform in recitals.

*It is recommended, though not required, that students aged 4-8 start with ukulele. It is also recommended that nylon string classical guitars (as opposed to steel string acoustic) are what kids start with, as it is easier on the fingers.
